World record holder Liu Xiang of China has no plans to retire and may compete at the 2012 London Olympics, his coach said. Liu, 110 metres hurdles gold medallist at the Athens Olympics, will be 29 by then.
"He is in good condition. He has the potential to break the world record if weather and other conditions permit," Liu's coach Sun Haiping said.
After clocking 12.88 to set the world record in June 2006, Liu has gone from strength to strength, winning nine titles in his last 12 meetings, which included the World Championship gold in Osaka.
The first Chinese man to win a track and field Olympic gold, Liu is China's biggest hope of home success at next year's Beijing Games.
Cycling - Di Luca gets three-month ban
Giro d'Italia winner Danilo Di Luca has been given a three-month ban for doping offences, the Italian Olympic Committee said.
The 31-year-old was suspended after a hearing at the Rome offices of CONI, the governing body for all sport in Italy, for his links with Carlo Santuccione, a doctor accused of supplying doping products to athletes.
The ruling means the ProTour leader, who denies any wrongdoing, will miss the competition's last race of the season, Saturday's Giro di Lombardia in northern Italy.
Athletics - Paris to host 2011 indoors
Paris has been chosen to host the European Indoor Championships in 2011.
At a meeting of the European Athletics Council in Malta, Gothenburg was also selected to host the 2013 event while Dublin was named as the venue for the European Cross Country Championships in 2009.
The European Indoor Championships were first held in 1966 in Dortmund. Paris has hosted it once, in 1994.
Formula One - Renault's no to Prodrive
Renault have ruled out supplying cars to Prodrive, due to become Formula One's 12th team, next season.
"We have had zero contact with Prodrive, and we are not in a position to supply another team at this point," team boss Flavio Briatore said.
Prodrive's entry looks doubtful after former champions Williams challenged the legality of their entry. The team said earlier this month that their plan to enter using identical cars to McLaren was no longer possible due to the threat of court action.
