Tatiana Golovin is pleased the French Tennis Federation has hired Swedish Davis Cup captain Mats Wilander to coach her for the rest of the US hardcourt summer. Seven-times grand slam champion Wilander will begin coaching the 19-year-old Frenchwoman at the WTA Tour event in Los Angeles in two weeks' time and continue through to the Aug. 27-Sept. 9 US Open. "I'm looking forward to it," Golovin said. "I'm sure he's going to have a lot to teach me and talk to me about."
Rugby
The Wallabies have been promised a bonus of A$137,000 (US$121,000) per player if they win this year's World Cup, the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) said. The ARU and the Rugby Union Players Association reached an agreement to give the players staggered payments depending on how far they go in the competition. Each of the 30 members of the squad will be given A$10,000 if they make the semi-finals.
Olympics
Germany's Olympic Sports Association endorsed a possible bid by Munich to host the 2018 winter Olympics. In a statement the association also said its executive had recommended against a bid for the 2016 summer Olympics because the chances of success were remote after London were chosen to host the 2012 Games. Germany's last three Olympic bids - Berchtesgaden 1992, Berlin 2000 and Leipzig 2012 - all failed.
