The Ornis Committee decided today to put off the decision on whether to recommend the opening of the spring hunting season in light of the case initiated by the European Commission against Malta before the European Court of Justice.

No vote was taken but it was decided that the committee would not be ruling on whether the season should be opened before the European Court of Justice pronounced itself.

BirdLife Malta on Monday had appealed to the committee not to decide on this year’s spring hunting season.
