Front Ħarsien ODZ has joined objections to the development of a shooting range at Busbesija, Mosta, because the area is in an outside development zone.

The newly established group is also concerned about the impact the range would have on a nearby retreat house, Mount St Joseph, run by the Jesuits.

It called on the government to exclude shooting ranges being sited close to hospitals, schools, homes for the retired and retreat houses under the new policy that would regulate them.

It also said it was concerned about reports that the shooting range could attract events such as the Shooting World Cup, “which should never take place in a pristine rural area that should be free of traffic and noise”.
