The Malta Association of Crohn's and Colitis (MACC) recently organised a seminar on 'Nutrition and IBD - Adult and Paediatric Perspectives' at the Medical School Auditorium, Mater Dei Hospital, Msida.

During the seminar, consultant paediatrician and gastroenterologist Thomas Attard and resident specialist in gastroenterology Pierre Ellul focused on the impact of balanced nutrition in the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD - Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) with emphasis on the management of childhood and adult complications or deficiencies caused by IBD.

The main aims of MACC are to offer support to people and relatives of people suffering from Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, to help them improve their quality of life and to promote public awareness about these chronic conditions. It also intends to promote patients' needs and rights and to encourage and promote research.

MACC is affiliated with the Europoean Federation of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Associations (EFCCA).
