Between January and April this year, ARMS Ltd sent out 5,429 notifications to electricity or water account holders warning that steps would be taken if outstanding bills were not paid within 10 days.

Where this was not done, the company normally sent out a final warning valid for seven days. In this case there were 3,337 notifications that needed to be sent.

Answering a parliamentary question by Gino Cauchi (PL), Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said that when no action on the consumer’s part was taken even after the second notification, ARMS recommended suspension of supply to either Enemalta Corporation or the Water Services Corporation.
