It seems to be an inherent trait of men and women of the Left that they can assume that they are entitled to say or write what they like. They should be described as of the “so-called Left” actually, as they’ve become “middel class, ghala le” in some manifestations and Far Right Control Freaks in others, but that’s a whole other story.

Mrs Marlene Mizzi, certainly of the “middel class, ghal le” manifestation of the Left, had a fish-wife squawk at me on her Facebook page after I had the temerity to pour scorn on her ludicrous ideas that we are living in some sort of dictatorship and that as long as you have the right patron here, you can literally (and she screeched that she knows the meaning of the word) get away with murder, which she then corrected to “attempted murder”.   I have an inkling what she was referring to, though she didn’t have the spine to spell it out (par for the course, she preferred hysterical outburst to hard evidence), and I doubt it wast the case of her compatriot in the ranks of Labour’s Star Entrepreneurs, that Chetcuti gentleman.

But no worries, bleat away about whatever you like on Facebook, make fatuous remarks about dictatorships and just because the ground you walk on is venerated by Labour in its collective effort to suck up to the commercial classes, you can act as if you are entitled to blow your nose on the truth.

Sorry, dear lady, there are those of us who still remember what dictatorships are like in the Maltese context, even if you don’t.

The cream on top of the “say what you like, who cares” cake was spread by the honourable gentleman of the Left, Dr George Vella, when in the House, resplendent under his cloak of Parliamentary Privilege, he had the front to let it be known that the motion presented by Labour calling into question Mr Richard Cachia Caruana’s service is “nothing personal.”

Astounding.  The man is called all manner of names, in and out of the House, and Dr Vella says “nothing personal”.

Of course it isn’t personal, it’s only personal when someone on the Labour side of the spectrum is called into question, then we get called racist, classist, elitist and every negative “ist” in the dictionary, but when the bad-mouthing comes from the so-called Left, then that’s alright, that’s legitimate political discourse and “nothing personal”.

Read my lips, all of you: it is personal and if you want any evidence, look at the bitter, envious, mildly-threatening comments that are made below pieces such as this.    The fact that we treat you with the contempt you deserve, the fact that your jibes and insults are simply evidence that the so-called Left still has way way far to go before it can even begin to entertain notions of being truly democratic, is irrelevant.
