The government today criticised the Opposition for its position on the rehabilitation of Maghtab.

The Nationalist Party yesterday criticised the government’s decision to possibly shelve plans announced seven years ago for the former dump to be turned into a recreational area.

The government said that while the government was going ahead with long-standing plans to landscape the Maghtab dump, no decisions had been taken over the future use of the area.

Today, the government said that the previous administration had promised a family park but no tenders were ever issued and no viability studies were held.

The government reiterated that it would be analysing all alternative according to their viability after taking everything into consideration.
