At least €300,000 will be invested by Transport Malta, together with the ministries for infrastructure and environment on several recreational facilities and improvements at the Salini National Park.

The investment is aimed to compensate for disruption caused by the widening of the Salina Coast Road and the relocation of trees at the park.

The government said in a statement the works shall consist of planting of additional trees, the creation of rest areas and installation of children’s play equipment.

The facilities will provide additional play areas, which would subsequently provide an added attraction for the public.

A specific area within the site, which presently lacks any facilities, has already been identified for the purpose.

Works shall be undertaken by Transport Malta in collaboration with the Environment Ministry's Parks Directorate.
