None of the nine international companies that expressed an interest in the establishment of an international Logistics Hub submitted a proposal by the expiration of the deadline for a request for proposals, the Economy Ministry said.

It said that through this request for proposal issued by the Privatisation Unit, the government sought to attract the interest of local and international logistics operators to transform the existing site, used by the Groupage Operators at Ħal Far, into an international logistics hub aimed at attracting value adding operations.

The proposal guaranteed space to the existing groupage operators and sought to convert or enlarge the site into a multi-level facility that would cater for local and international markets.

The new request was issued after the original one, which had been issued in October, flopped.
