Upon hearing the news that Dom Mintoff was in the intensive care unit at Mater Dei Hospital, the blood rushed to my head.

He had done so much “good” in his 16 years of power. No other Prime Minister had done as much.

He introduced maternity grants, widows’ pension, bonuses, children’s allowance, government plots, etc. The list is literally endless.

What an asset he was to the Maltese all those years ago because he gave and did not take in return. I hope he will have a speedy recovery.
