The fifth edition of the successful Classics under the Stars concert will be held on June 20 on the grounds of the Inquisitor’s Palace at Girgenti.

The concert is organised by the Office of the Prime Minister and features the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

For the second consecutive year, the concert will raise funds for animal sanctuaries, Michelle Muscat, the prime minister's wife, told a press conference.

Nine animal sanctuaries will benefit.

Sigmund Mifsud, Chairman of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, said a programme of popular orchestral classics had been prepared, featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsy’s Nut Cracker Suite and De Falla’s Three Cornered Hat.

Joining the orchestra as guest artist for the evening will be internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Hadar Halevy who will be interpreting the Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen, and Saint-Saëns Mon coeur s’ouvre a ta voix from Samson and Delilah.

The concert is open to the general public. 1000 free concert tickets will be available from the Office of the Prime Minister as from tomorrow (Tuesday) between 9.30am and 4.30pm. A maximum of two tickets per person may be collected. The concert starts as 8.30pm.
