Three Nigerian men aged between 19 and 26 years were today each jailed for six months after they tried to leave the country for Rome yesterday.

They were arrested at the airport and found to be in possession of false passports and Spanish ID cards.

Airport immigration officials spotted the false documents and called the police.

The migrants pleaded guilty.

Inspector Geoffrey Azzopardi that he thought that their case warranted a jail term towards the minimum allowed by law as the accused had cooperated with the police.
