Maltese rock band Winter Moods are back with a new single and a full-on live performance.

Taken off last year’s Argento album, Sun Won’t Shine was chosen as the band’s new radio single by their friends and followers on Facebook. According to influential Irish music industry veteran Jackie Hayden, who signed up U2 to their first contract, Sun Won’t Shine “could be an outtake from The Joshua Tree... it has a robust vocal and a fine sense of drama”.

Meanwhile, the band has announced it will be giving a live performance at the Għaxaq football ground on May 27. The concert, which starts at 8 p.m., is being organised by the St Joseph Band Club and benefactor Wilfred Spiteri in connection with the feast of St Joseph, celebrated on June 5 in Għaxaq.

Entrance to the concert is free but donations will be collected in aid of the Puttinu Cares for Children fund. The concert will also feature Chasing Pandora as special guests.

Marvic Abela, president of the St Joseph Band Club Għaxaq said this year’s concert is being organised on a national scale:

“When we invited Winter Moods to perform in 2009, the public response was so overwhelming we had to move the event from the main square to the Football Ground.”

Abela encouraged all those who plan to attend to be generous in supporting the concert’s philanthropic aim in collecting funds for Puttinu Cares and said that donations can also be made via SMS on 5061 7380 for a €2.33 donation, 5061 8939 for a €6.99 donation, and 5061 9225 for a €11.65 donation.
