Continental Cars Limited yesterday launched the latest Porsche 911 Carrera at the Radisson SAS in St Julians.

The new 911 Carrera has two distinct models, the Carrera and the Carrera S. The Carrera 3.6 litre engine has a brake horse power of 325 while the Carrera S, powered by a 3.8 litre six cylinder engine, has a maximum output of 355 bhp.

Maurice Mizzi, managing director of Continental Cars Ltd, said that apart from the visual aspect, the new model has a number of innovative features that enhance safety and performance. The first Porsche was imported to Malta in 1960 by Continental Cars. The second Porsche, the 356 model that was also a predecessor of the 911, was brought over in 1962.

"In its design, the new Porsche 911 continues the existing model line with all its classical features. With the evolutionary re-styling from front to rear, the new 911 Carrera is however even more dynamic than before," Mr Mizzi said.

The Carrera starts at Lm65,000 and the Carrera S at Lm80,000.
