Fr Ivan Scicluna has been appointed the new archpriest of Senglea.

Born in Pietá in 1970, Fr Ivan was ordained priest in 2003. He started his pastoral work in Senglea and as a director of vocations.

In 2005, he was appointed assistant archpriest of Rabat and rector of Nigret chapel in the same parish. In 2007 he was appointed parish priest of St Lucija where he has been serving for the last five years. As part of his pastoral work he was also a spiritual director at various schools.

The number of parishioners in Senglea is around 4,000 gathered in 1,200 families.
