The nurses’ union will be meeting its officials to decide what action to take to safeguard the interests of members at St Vincent de Paul Residence, who it believes are being discriminated against.

In a statement it said that while some staff members, who were not affiliated with the union, were caught breaking regulations and were not disciplined or warned, the hospital’s administration took drastic action against its members for minor infringements.

Steering away from MUMN’s comments of discrimination, the hospital said it was committed to take all measures in the interest of the elderly residents.

Such measures were taken within the parameters of public sector disciplinary regulations, it said.
