Victor Bonett from the Malta Tourism Authority recently presented Sheffield United's Player of the Year award to Nick Montgomery at the club. The MTA is the club's main sponsor.

The popular midfield player took the top title and also shared the honours in the Players' Player of the Year section. Montgomery won a landslide victory in the Player of the Year category, selected by supporters of the club in a poll during the last few weeks of the season. He polled 50 per cent of the votes.

During his presentation speech, Bonett said there had been a rise in the number of visitors to Malta from Yorkshire and that tourism from the region should continue to grow with new air routes operating from East Midlands and Leeds Bradford airports.

Money raised from the awards ceremony will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Sheffield United's last game of the season is away to Ipswich today. As part of the club's pre-season preparations, the team will be visiting Malta during July 12 to17.
