A section of one of the UK's busiest motorways was shut for a number of hours yesterday following a multiple vehicle crash, the Highways Agency said.

The collision took place at around 8.30 a.m. yesterday morning on the M25 between South Mimms and Potters Bar in Hertfordshire.

Two vehicles spun off the motorway and another hit the central reservation during the collision, police said.

The injured were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Junction 23 and 24 on the clockwise section of the motorway was closed as a result.

The clockwise entry slip road of junction 23 was also shut.

The Highways Agency later confirmed that the motorway had reopened.
