Police yesterday released footage of two men fleeing the scene of a fatal shooting a week ago.

Edward Thompson, 29, was shot as he sat in the front of a car in Amhurst Road, Hackney, east London, yesterday week.

Two young men walked alongside the vehicle and approached the open passenger window, firing into the car before running off.

Friends of the father-of-three rushed him to hospital, where he later died.

The Met Police have released footage of the men as they ran away from Amhurst Road to nearby Pembury Junction and the Pembury estate.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Detective Chief Inspector John Macdonald of the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command said: "A week on from Edward's murder we are releasing images of two suspects moments after Eddie was killed. They are seen sprinting from the scene at about 3.45 p.m. towards the Pembury estate.

"Edward was a family man and devoted to his three young children. We don't know why he was killed as he was a friendly guy whose background would not appear to warrant this type of targeted attack."
