By 35 votes for and 34 against, the House of Representatives yesterday approved a motion thanking the President for his speech at the inauguration, earlier this month, of the eleventh legislature, highlighting the government's five-year administrative programme.

The motion was moved by Dr Franco Debono, the youngest MP on the government side.

No fewer than 39 MPs - 23 on the Government side and 22 from the Opposition - took part in the six-sitting debate.

When the House meets again on Monday, it will start discussing in second reading the Central Registry Bill, which aims at consolidating into one law the separate pieces of legislation relating to the Public Registry and Land Registration operations.
