The MMAs and BMAs may boast a bigger profile when it comes to music awards, but the Mużika Mod Ieħor (MMI) poll has been gaining ground since it was first launched back in 2006.

The results of the 2010 poll were revealed last week in the 240th edition of Toni Sant’s weekly podcasts, with an interesting set of results that offers a fresh and different perspective to those that emerged during the BMAs and the MMAs.

Voting for the MMI poll opened via Facebook on November 28 and closed on January 1.

While Winter Moods dominated the MMAs and Airport Impressions conquered the BMA’s, it was Red Electrick who emerged as the outright winners of the MMI poll, walking away with the Top Album, Top Single and Top Video awards.

Chasing Pandora’s People was voted last year’s Top EP, with an impressive percentage of the total vote in their category.

Newcomers Three Stops to China won the Best Internet Release with the song Stay Away, while Hoodoo, the latest album from Swiss rock band Krokus, fronted by Maltese vocalist Marc Storace, was voted the Top Overseas-based release.
