Every manager today needs to understand finance. "Finance for the non-accountant" has been designed to meet this need.

Helping delegates learn how their decisions and actions affect their company's profitability, this participative programme will also show them financial principles and management accounting techniques which will help them to improve profitability.

Starting from the basic principles, such as why businesses need finance and how to read profit statements, participants will progress steadily through a varied programme of short input sessions, practical exercises and case studies which will explain clearly the main areas of both financial and management accounting.

Managers and executives who are not familiar with the principles of business finance but who have to grapple with them in their daily work will find this programme highly beneficial.

Participants will be pleasantly surprised how interesting, entertaining and uncomplicated finance can be when put across the right way.

"Finance for the non-Accountant" will held at the MISCO Training Centre in Valletta on June 15, 16 and 18 from 2.30-6 p.m.

Problem-solving and decision-making

Managers are known, unfortunately, for the small number of poor decisions they make, rather than the majority of good ones! Decision-making is probably a key executive skill and is a major component of problem solving as well as pro-active planning.

How are decisions made? How do we solve problems? Being able to identify factors that will affect the decision, generating the different options we are faced with and finally being able to make the right choice are of great importance in today's business world.

"Problem-Solving and Decision-Making" is a one-day training programme which considers problem analysis, establishing objectives, recognising factors which constrain decisions, generating the best options, choosing and recommending the best course of action and implementing decisions and decision making styles.

Anyone involved in the decision making process in any type of organisation may wish to attend this programme.

The speaker for this programme is Philip Bourne, MA (Cantab), a director of TACK Training International and associate director of MISCO Training.

"Problem-Solving and Decision-Making" will be held at the MISCO Training Centre on June 21 from 9 a.m.-5.30 p.m.

Executive development programme

The Executive Development Programme enables participants to acquire and extend executive skills, decision taking, communication, delegation, motivation and interpersonal skills.

MISCO-TACK's popular two-day training programme will be held by Mr Bourne at the MISCO Training Centre in Valletta on June 24 and 25 from 9 a.m.-5.30 p.m.

Participants will learn the skills an executive should develop - self-organisation and control of paperwork, establish priorities, problem analysis, and systematic and rational decision making, creative thinking and how to develop and maintain good personal relationships and win co-operation.
