Sliema 1 Floriana 0
Sliema Wanderers maintained their unbeaten start to their Premier League trek when they edged Old Firm rivals Floriana 1-0 today.
After a drab first half, during which the only notable note was the dismissal of Sliema's Ryan Grech for a second bookable offence, the match came to life after the interval.
Buoyed with numerical advantage Floriana dominated play but their hopes of grabbing a winner were jolted on 66 minutes when goalkeeper William Amamoo, who was making his first appearance for the Greens this season, was dismissed after handling the ball outside the area.
Sliema quickly profited from the situation and struck the killer blow on 74 minutes when Jackson Lima unleashed a powerful drive that was only partially blocked by Manuel Bartolo and in came Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who stabbed the ball home.
Mifsud Triganza could have added a second late on but his curling drive hit the upright.
Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
