A public meeting will be held at St Edward's College on Thursday at 7 p.m. to inform parents and their sons and daughters attending Form IV in schools all over Malta about the opening of St Edward's new Form VI in September 2009.

This will be the year that present Form IV students will be ready to begin their post-secondary education.

St Edward's College is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate. This is a highly-regarded post-secondary diploma that is accepted as an entry requirement for the University of Malta and many universities in Europe and America.

Besides offering students a holistic experience, its rigorous academic programme prepares students for their university studies as they are taught how to learn independently and how to develop research and thinking skills. Many other skills are incorporated in the IB programme and these will be expanded on at the meeting.

Michael Chittenden, headmaster of St Edward's College, and Anne Tabone, head of St Edward's Junior School, have been visiting various schools on the island talking to Form IV students about this diploma course and inviting them and their parents to Thursday's meeting.

Those interested in attending are asked to telephone the headmaster's secretary on 2182 7077 to reserve a place.
