Thousands opted for a outing this weekend and flocked to the silent city of Mdina which was taken back to the medieval era and to nearby Girgenti, where the Inquisitors' Palace was opened for viewing in a fund-raising event in aid of the Mental Health Association, Richmond Foundation and Friends of Mount Carmel Hospital Society.
At Mdina, medieval food, drink and flowers could be found all over the narrow streets and piazzas which came to life when the swords were taken out for fights at intervals.
Several exhibitions were held, games were organised for children and street theatre was held. There were also a number of medieval tournaments.
At Girgenti, visitors were able to view the historic interiors of the palace and the beautiful grounds surrounding it. There were also a number of activities catering for the whole family. 16,000 Euros were raised during the event.
