Workers at MGC Electronics Ltd were asked to go home today "because the factory is closing down".

Attempts to confirm the situation with a factory representative were unsuccessful but a person at the factory who refused to be named confirmed that because of the international situation there was a possibility that the factory would close down.

He also confirmed that workers had been sent home but said that no other information was available.

The factory, which employs 62, is at the Mosta Technopark and manufacturs encapsulated and laminated transformers.

A worker told timesofmalta.com in an e-mail that employees at this factory were not represented by any union.
