A group of 20 Mcast mechanical engineering students yesterday launched their prototype open-wheel Formula SAE racing car, which they themselves designed and built from scratch. The team unveiled plans to design and build a single-seat vehicle to participate in a worldwide professional engineering competition in Parma, Italy, in September 2016, organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The students are hoping to raise €40,000 to support research and development on the project over its two-year lifespan.
