The Taekwondo Dragon Club (TDC) gained excellent results at the 19th National Kyorugi Championships as three of the five club members who took part in this competition won their respective category.

Chloe Vassallo claimed top spot in Pewee B, Lynsey Fenech won the Cadets CB and Kyle Vassallo headed the Juniors A category.

Mauro Busuttil and Jesred Piscopo, also members of the TDC, figured in the Seniors A and Cadets CB (men) respectively at the Kyorugi Championships.

Chloe and Kyle Vassallo, Fenech and Busuttil will represent Malta in the 13th UTF British International Open, to be held on July 10 and 11 in Crawley.

May was indeed an eventful month for the TDC.

Last week, Stephen Formosa, the club's head instructor, attended a training seminar in Sindelfingen, Germany.

Focusing on Poomsae (patterns) training, the seminar was conducted by 2006 world champion and national coach for Korea, Master Ik-Pil Kang (8th Dan).

Assisting him was Grand Master Park Soo Nam (ninth Dan) who resides in Stuttgart. This seminar was partly financed by the Malta Taekwondo Federation.

Later this year, the TDC plans to field a team in the Park Pokal (Cup) Open in Sindelfingen.

Also during May, TDC held grading examinations for its members who were all promoted to a higher rank.
