Renzo Cordina was recently awarded the degree of Master ofScience in International Accounting and Finance with distinction from the University of Strathclyde,Glasgow.

In part fulfilment of the degree, Mr Cordina had to submit three research projects on different accounting aspects.

The first project dealt with the revaluation of fixed assets in different countries. The second project involved the financial analysis and valuation of a UK pub management company. The main research and third project was a review of the criticisms of Kaplan and Norton’s balanced scorecard – one of the most discussed management accounting tools.

The degree was carried out following the award of a STEPS scholarship, partly financed by the EU – European Social Fund (ESF) under Operational Programme II – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013, ‘Empowering People for More Jobs and a BetterQuality of Life’.

Mr Cordina graduated with Bachelor of Commerce, and subsequently with Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2009.

Following the award of a Ph.D. studentship by the University of Strathclyde, Mr Cordina will be working on a project at the same university.
