The Dr Michael Aquilina Award for academic excellence was presented recently during the first Institute for Physical Education and Sport conference on ‘The role of physical activity and sport in society’, held at the Radisson Blu, St Julian’s.

The award was presented by George Buttigieg, from the Malta Institute of cultural studies (Miocs), to Lisa Camenzuli in recognition of her outstanding achievements throughout the B.Ed. PE course.

In a short speech, Dr Buttigieg emphasised the importance of academic excellence and said it was for this reason that Miocs supported the award andendeavoured to gather and disseminate knowledge on tradition and history in Malta and beyond.

Marlene Aquilina, wife of the late Dr Aquilina, his son Vittorio and his daughter Tiziana attended this presentation.
