On Saturday Marsa played Melita in another match from the Globalair Winter League.

John Grima and Sarfraz Ali opened the batting for Marsa. Grima was caught by substitute fielder J. Muscat off the third ball of the game for two runs. Ali was also caught by Tony Slater who had to judge a high spinning ball while moving backwards. Ali had made one run only.

Then, Mike Caruana scored 31 from 30 balls and retired. His innings included four 4s. He was dropped when he only had 16 runs. Javed Shah had 12 runs before being bowled by Sagar Krishna. Two balls later Ronnie Sacco was out for a duck.

Tony Azzopardi also made a duck and was bowled by Sunny Krishna. Robert Krishna made eight runs and Mark Sacco retired after 30 balls and 17 runs. Gordon Hewitt was seven runs not out and Marilyn Camilleri one not out as Marsa totalled a mere 97 runs but they still prevailed.

Godwin Calleja and Sunny Krishna opened the bowling for Melita. Krishna was first to go, lbw for six runs. Calleja soon followed (he was bowled for 11 runs) before Justin Brooke took his position in the crease.

Mile O'Meara hit ten runs from nine balls and a couple of quick wickets fell. The game, suddenly, swung back in Marsa's favour.

Melita required 15 runs from the last over to secure victory. Brooke went for an ambitious shot and missed instead. He was easily stumped by Grima for Marsa to win the match.

Marsa shot to the top of the standings thanks to the eight points won. They now have 25. Melita only earned one point from the game.

Next Saturday, Marsa play Krishna at 1 p.m. Nursery activities will be held between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m.
