The Globalair Winter League continued last weekend with Marsa taking on Krishna Pen and Paper.

For Marsa, it was a special day for one of their players.

In fact, Marilyn Camilleri was playing her first competitive game at Marsa. She is the first female to figure in a Winter League match.

Marsa won the toss and elected to field. Krishna were off to a flying start as 14 runs came off the first over with Mark G. Sacco dispatching two 4s to the cover point boundary.

He retired after 30 balls. Later, Sacco returned and remained not out on 43, including four 4s. His opening partner, Nowell Khosla, also retired on 30 balls, scoring 33 runs.

Chris Naudi impressed by scoring 31 runs off 21 balls, including a 6 and two 4s. Juniors Adam Krishna and Sanjay Dhandapani left after two runs not out and a duck, respectively.

Aided by 15 extras, the Krishna team totalled 132 from their allotted overs.

For Marsa, Mike Caruana took two wickets while Tony Azzopardi and Gordon Hewitt both took a wicket each.

Marsa found the run chase difficult to achieve with Khosla claiming four wickets for 28 runs from six overs. He had the better of Javed Shah (one run), John Grima (16), Mike Caruana (20) and Tony Azzopardi (six).

Sarfraz Ali managed seven runs while Camilleri played out four balls before she was bowled out.

Kevin Krishna, Sam Dhandapani and Chris Naudi all took a wicket each. Marsa were bowled out for 92 runs.

Krishna earned nine points for their win while Marsa had to settle for one. Marsa still head the table with 17 points from three games. Krishna are second on ten (two games) and Melita still have to open their account.

Next Saturday, Krishna play Melita at 1 p.m. Academy activities will be held between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m.
