African and Maltese musicians are promising a "tidal wave of cultural diversity" tomorrow when refugees and local hip hop artistes will host a World Refugee Day concert at the Marsa Open Centre.

Following the success of a similar event in April called Jamming For Change, this concert will feature top acts No Bling Show, Sixth Simfoni and For Strings Inn.

A number of acts from Eritrea, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia and Sudan will also be presented in the event following a talent scout at the open centre by organisers Hip Hop Malta and youth organisation Get Up Stand Up.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. with the full concert beginning at 10 p.m.

There will be a big screen showing the afternoon and evening World Cup matches: Italy vs New Zealand and Brazil vs Ivory Coast.

"Since this is the year for combating social exclusion and poverty, we chose to take action and engage with those that feel most ostracised within our society. Music is a formidable language," Jon Mallia, from No Bling Show and one of the founding members of Hip Hop Malta said.

"We are hoping the thousands of people who welcomed Pope Benedict XVI will heed his statements about asylum seekers and seek to understand their predicament. Jesus, after all, is probably the most famous refugee of all."

The event is open to all and is free of charge.

Transport to Paceville will be provided at 2 a.m. also free of charge.
