Works will soon start on the laying out of temporary roads as part of the Marsa junction project, Transport Minister Ian Borg said on Tuesday.

He said works on phase one, the demolition of old factories is almost complete.

Phase two will feature excavation works for utility services and the laying out of temporary roads while seven flyovers are built.

Dr Borg said the call for offers for the third phase, the building of the flyovers, closed today. 

Eight offers were submitted for an average price of  €45 million. The offers ranged from €33.5m to €57.7m from consortia formed of Maltese and overseas contractors.

The bids will be examined in the coming months.
