How are funds distributed in the EU?

The European Commission manages the Community budget and the specific funds which are attached to it. These funds include the European Social Fund, the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) and the European Regional Development Fund. A little less than 50 per cent of the Community budget goes to agriculture and fisheries; followed by regional policy and structural funds, external relations, salaries and operating costs, research and development, training, youth, culture and social affairs.
