A man who pleaded guilty to slightly injuring his mother said in court today he had assaulted her because she called him a cuckold.
Marco Camilleri, 41, Zejtun also pleaded guilty to breaking his mother’s glasses, threatening her and assaulting a police officer.
Testifying, Marianna Camilleri said that she had been watching television when, all of a sudden, her son attacked her. She said he did so when he drank.
Interjecting from the dock, Mr Camilleri asked his mother to also tell the courts that she called him a cuckold.
Magistrate Antonio Vella asked the accused to quieten down.
While speaking to his lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar, Mr Camilleri could be heard saying that he was not an alcoholic although he was attending counselling services for marital problems.
The magistrate conditionally discharged Mr Camilleri for two years and placed him under a treatment order for the same number of years.
