A Michigan man convicted of unlawful imprisonment and carrying a concealed weapon broke into song at his sentencing.

Brian Earl Taylor, 21, sang an apology to a courtroom at his hearing in the style of Adele's Hello.

"Hello there, your honor, I want to say I'm sorry for the things I've done and I'll try and be stronger in this life I chose, but I want you to know — that door, I closed. And your honour I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry."

Taylor was arrested for holding up a man at gunpoint and then forcing him to drive to his apartment to complete the robbery.

Prior to singing, Taylor told the judge he plans to go to school to get his business degree, lay off the pot, and care for his mother. He requested 36 months so he could graduate by the time he was 26.

While the performance certainly charmed the courtroom, the judge denied Taylor's request for 36 months. Instead, he was sentenced to two years in prison for illegally carrying a concealed weapon and 18 months to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment.

Adele’s song tells the story of a woman trying to apologise to a beau whose heart she broke years ago.
