A 43-year-old man was this afternoon remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to stealing cash and jewellery from two houses in the same street in Mosta in September last year.

Mark Zahra, from Fgura, was charged with stealing the items from the houses in Vjal Independenza in the evening of September 14.

From one house he allegedly stole cash, jewellery and various other items while from the other he allegedly stole several jewellery items. He was also accused of relapsing.

Before Magistrate Anthony Vella, Mr Zahra pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

He denied his request for bail and remanded him in custody.

Police Inspector Carlos Cordina prosecuted.
