A man was granted bail against a deposit of €3,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000 after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his colleague during an argument at their workplace.

Leonard Balzan, 54, from Kirkop, was charged with injuring Vincenzo Micallef when he hit him in the face.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras heard how the two argued at work and after he got hit, the victim lost his balance and hit his head on the ground, fracturing his skull. His condition deteriorated and he is now in imminent danger of dying, the court heard.

The incident happened in Luqa as the two were working at a construction site owned by Polidano Brothers. He was fired following the incident.
