A Somali man who last month vandalised a number of cars and terrorized a motorist in Aldo Moro Road, Marsa, was jailed for six months by a court today after it was found that he had committing the crime during the period of a suspended sentence over a separate conviction.

The latest incident happened in the evening of April 7, when Abiib Adan Hamze, 22, threw stones at cars being driven along this arterial road. He was restrained by another man until the police arrived.

The accused pleaded guilty to all charges, including assaulting a motorist and a passenger, threatening the police and relapsing.

Although he was sentenced to jail for three months and fined €300, the punishment was increased when the suspended sentence, for theft of a bag in Hamrun, became effective.

Police inspectors Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted while lawyer Patrick Valentino was legal aid.

The court was presided by Magistrate Doreen Clarke.
