An investigation is being held after a dog was found dead in Rabat after having apparently been suffocated in a plastic bag.

The grim discovery was made by a girl who immediately alerted a neighbour, Doris Micallef, who uploaded the shocking picture of the dog on Facebook.

The dog was found with a plastic bag around its head.
