A man was jailed for 15 months today after being convicted of breaking into two cars and relapsing.

Jesmond Portelli, 39, who has addresses in Zejtun and Tarxien, was spotted breaking a car's window in Hamrun in January 2006. The man who spotted him called the police and then followed him, seeing him break into another car.

The police found Mr Portelli wearing a jacket he had stolen from the first car and carrying a stolen stereo and cash.

The court noted that Mr Portelli had a drug addiction problem and that he had already been given several chances to mend his ways.
