A young man from Fgura was this morning placed on probation for three years after he was found guilty of attempting to seriously injure the husband of an older woman he was having a relationship with.

In June 2011, the man had driven at the husband and his son outside the Kalkara parish church. In the process he hit a car and ended up on the pavement.

Two years ago he was charged with a double attempted murder over the incident, which occurred in June 2011, after the woman tried to end the relationship.

The murder charges were subsequently dropped and today he was found guilty of causing slight injury, voluntary damages and breaching the peace.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the accused.
