Maltese politics is like watching a looped episode of the Teletubbies show; after a while it numbs the mind.

So I should not really be surprised that the rise of far-right parties in Malta is going unnoticed by the columnists of this paper and the mainstream media in general. But, then again, we do have a habit to play the ostrich game and let bygones be bygones until they take a nasty turn.

I'm referring to individuals who are members of or associated with far-right parties in Malta and who are using the commentary sections of this paper - which gets 40,000 online hits a day - to propagate racist and xenophobic sentiments. It is obvious that this is being done to gain some twisted political sympathy.

Unless there is a quick reaction against xenophobism, this cheap propaganda might find its only form of expression in hate crime.
