Hein Chetcuti, an information systems specialist at the Malta Freeport Terminal has won the University of London External System 150th Anniversary Prize after obtaining a first class honours degree in Information Systems and Management setup and assessed by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Mr Chetcuti was awarded this one-off award for achieving the highest set of marks in the field of Information Systems and Management through the entire programme, and among all candidates completing their degree in 2008. He was one of 15 students who received the award for different subject areas from a total of more than 6,000 international students.

This award also led to the invitation of a special VIP reception presided over by her HRH Princess Anne at the Barbican Centre in London.

Mr Chetcuti, who hails from Ghaxaq, last November participated in WICT 2008, the first national ICT Conference organized by the Faculty of ICT within the University of Malta. He submitted a research paper entitled "ERP Implementation: A Multi-Stakeholder Analysis of Critical Success Factors".

He also lectures part-time at St Martin's Institute of Information Technology, lecturing first and second-year students reading for a BSc in Information Systems and Management with the University of London.
