I refer to the letter Future Of Cricket in Malta, by Ali Sarfraz, chairman of the Malta Cricket Association. I have the honour of being the captain of the national squad which reached the semi-final stage of the European Cricket Cup in Zeus (1995), Vienna (2003) and Antwerp (2007). On all those occasions we defeated countries with a much larger pool of cricketers and a lot more resources and much better facilities. This was possible due to the dedication, hard work and talent of Maltese cricketers, who have every reason to hold their head high.

I would like to stress the importance of having another ground, not only to be able to compete in international competitions in which we have a good record, not only to bring over the 20 plus touring teams a year which does such good for tourism, but to make the game more available to locals. At the moment this is not easy with just one ground.

The game is for both genders and a nursery/academy is held on Saturdays. For more information contact secretary@maltacricket.biz.
