The Malta Tenpin Bowling Association deemed it fitting and very much deserved that formal recognition should be given to those amazing athletes who recently travelled to Ireland to participate in the 2003 Special Olympics.

Inspirational results were gained by all five bowlers who competed in various divisions.

They all excelled among a highly competitive field, crediting Malta with great honours, and bringing back no fewer than a gold medal, as well as a silver and also a bronze. A section of the presentation by the MTBA was, therefore, dedicated to the group which consisted of: Joseph Tanti (gold, unassisted ramp event), Rittiene Pullicino (silver, unassisted ramp event), Marika Rodgers (bronze, singles), Michael Calleja (fourth, singles) and Beverley Bianchi (seventh, singles).

They were accompanied by co-ordinators Paul Micallef and Anna Calleja, who were also recognised for their efforts in the coaching and guidance of the team, who were sponsored by Eden Leisure's SuperBowl.
