SOS Malta’s disaster relief efforts in the Philippines will enter a new phase today when two ferries and a plane carrying much-needed supplies will go to some of the worst-hit areas.
To date, SOS Malta has raised almost €16,000 in its emergency appeal. Some $14,000 (€10,350) is already in the Philippines and is now being distributed.
“We are pleased with the response to our fundraising efforts so far but we think we can do more,” said SOS Malta’s CEO Claudia Taylor East.
“Now we are established on the ground we would urge people to dig into their pockets and donate – even a small amount can help.”
Today’s deliveries will include supplies of solar-powered flashlights, lighters, candles, baby milk and medicine.
