On Saturday we had the good fortune of being able to attend the symphony band concert by the La Valette Philharmonic Band at the Catholic Institute. It was absolutely magnificent from start to finish.
The whole band was note perfect, the conductor Dominic Darmanin was masterly in his execution of leading such a magnificent band and the presenter Charles Coleiro ably introduced each excerpt. He certainly seemed as if he had done his research and put us, the audience, into the mood for every presentation. A huge “thank you” to all concerned in making such a programme possible. It must have taken loads of volunteers to bring about such a beautiful evening.
Special compliments also go to the excellent soloists – Maria Bonnici on the flute and Emanuel Busuttil on the timpani.
We Maltese should truly be proud of all the musical talent that abounds on the island and which is so freely given by the musicians. Once again a big thank you and well done to all concerned. These are the Maltese individuals who should grace our headlines. It would show our massive gratitude to them and encourage our young people to nurture the love of good music.
